Sounds of Baruhlo #057 by hero.created
Hero.created is a Berlin-based artist shaping the Afro-electronic scene through deep basslines, emotion, and cultural connection. He is the founder of Amour Africain, a community and collective that hosts events, workshops, and the SAUTI radio show on Oroko Radio. Together with DJ OBass and Takyi, he co-founded pltfrm, a project that captures raw outdoor DJ sets and breaks down barriers. Together, they're redefining the music landscape at the heart of Berlin.
Having Hero contribute a mix to our Guesmux series means a lot to us, knowing how much he moves, builds, and pushes forward in Berlin’s scene. We’re grateful he took the time to sit down with us and share some insights into his journey and work.
As a curator for PLTFM 030, Hero takes care in putting together strong, intentional lineups. He told us that Black DJs are central to the project. They bring their unique sounds, styles, and perspectives, and it’s important that their presence isn’t reduced to quick content but instead celebrated for their creative richness and depth.
As a producer, Hero’s edits and tracks are gaining momentum—both nationally and internationally. We asked how producing his own music has influenced his path as an artist and DJ. He says the ability to play his own songs and feel the audience's response gives him confidence to keep going, to create more, and to trust his creative instinct. Producing and DJing go hand in hand, it deepens his understanding of the music he plays.
I’ve been a fan of Hero’s work for a long time. And if you’ve heard his tracks, you’ll know that the producer tag Amour Africain is ever-present. I was always curious about the meaning behind it, and I’m glad Hero explained. For him, Amour Africain is about building a diasporic community in Germany. It goes beyond music and includes African art in all its forms. Music might be the loudest voice, but it’s not the only one. AmourAfrique is a bridge, connecting creative Africans in Germany, and the team strongly believes that while you can do a lot alone, true change only happens collectively. That’s why they're always open to collaboration.
This spirit carries into Hero’s work at Oroko Radio, where he showcases diverse sounds from the African diaspora.
